Garden Club –Â Indoor mushroom cultivation
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Registration opens up six days before each date. Please use the “add to cart” button to secure your FREEÂ registration (cart button appears the Sunday before the date)
Date:Â Saturday, December 2; 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Host:Â Tom Nagy, River City Mushrooms
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for classes is twenty people.Â
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary’s Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.Â
Details: Many know Tom Nagy as a local hero of everything outdoorsy and mushroom, and he is also so good at helping cold-climate gardeners succeed with growing mushrooms indoors. Join Tom to learn how easily you too can cultivate gourmet, home-grown mushrooms this winter!
Tom will be staying after his talk (until 2pm), with his River City Mushroom kits available for sale.
About the host: Tom Nagy is a restoration ecologist with a passion for botany, sustainable agriculture, and mycology. Tom has experience working as a field botanist, environmental consultant and a field manager for a certified organic farm. After moving to Winnipeg in 2016, Tom began River City Mushrooms; a small-scale mycology based passion project that focuses on cultivating an appreciation for gourmet and medicinal fungi as well as supplying the knowledge and tools necessary for a new generation of mushroom growing enthusiasts to flourish.
